Family Fun Runs

If you’re some of the hundreds of folks who participated in the Indy Ultimate or in one of the many fun or competitive runs this holiday week, you may already be aware of how many opportunities there are this time of year for individuals and families to participate in organized, outdoor fun runs and walks. We’ve compiled a few to see if one appeals to you. While serious runners compete in many of these, most also have a designated time for walkers participating for the health, fun, and community of it. Everyone who competes gets the benefit of healthy physical activity. There are many coming up – see if one suits you. Enjoy!

The Indianapolis Colts 5K – each registration for this August event includes one ticket to a preseason Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium (as well as a shirt and a medal). The Colts 5K is a very family-friendly event with a downtown course that ends on the 50 yard line. To learn more or register, go here.

The Meltdown in Shelbyville boasts three 5Ks in one day! Feeling ambitious? Do all three!

For those who like to run on trails, The Beaver Chase Urban Trail Race offers something different. It’s primarily for more experienced runners, and offers a unique experience to traditional road races.

And in the fall, Indianapolis offers a collection of events from Beyond Monumental. From the Monumental Kids Movement to Monumental Moms, Beyond Monumental has something for everyone. It’s not too late to start planning and training.
